OUR COMPANY
Promech Air is the largest air taxi in southern Southeast Alaska. Promech Air’s “can do” philosophy – along with our fleet, facilities, and personnel – make us the preferred carrier in the Ketchikan area. We have been transporting people and freight throughout Southeast Alaska for 30 years, giving us the experience to serve your transportation needs in a timely, safe, and affordable manner.
Promech Air flies to many Southeast Alaska communities on a daily basis with convenient schedules. We also provide charter services for individuals and businesses transporting everything from hunters and hunting gear to flowers and groceries. Promech Air’s flightseeing tours to Misty Fjords National Monument and Neets Bay Salmon Hatchery for bear viewing are some of the best tours offered in Alaska.
Promech Air currently operates four de Havilland Beavers and six de Havilland single-turbine Otters. These floatplanes are extraordinarily reliable and ideally suited for flying in Southeast Alaska. Standardization of our fleet, such as all aircraft being equipped with EDO floats, offers the advantage of simplified maintenance support. This allows us to operate with very few cancellations or flight delays due to maintenance.

Our Equipment
Promech Air’s fleet consists of de Havilland Beavers and de Havilland Otters. Our fleet configuration allows us to provide the best transportation service and the flexibility to meet specific transportation needs. Promech Air is the only operator in the Ketchikan region that operates turbine Otters.
de Havilland Beaver
The de Havilland Beaver is the aircraft most people associate with Alaska and the “bush pilot” lifestyle. The Beaver has a useful load of 1400 pounds with seating for up to six passengers. Each person is guaranteed window seating and stereo headsets. The Beaver was designed for flight in rugged and remote areas of the world and is known as the workhorse of bush aircraft. Harrison Ford owns a Beaver and calls it is his favorite among his entire fleet of private aircraft.
de Havilland Turbine Otter
Promech Air is the only air taxi in southern Southeast Alaska flying single-engine turbine Otter aircraft. This aircraft is our largest, most powerful aircraft and is the cornerstone of our fleet. It has a useful load of 2200 pounds with seating for 10 passengers. During 2005, our Turbine Otters underwent a fleet enhancement program, which increased the quality of a flight by reducing interior noise. This plane was specifically designed to operate in rugged bush country and in cold weather operations.
Our fleet is well maintained, allowing us to provide on-time, reliable air service. Our rigorous maintenance program has resulted in an outstanding safety record. We have created a maintenance support program for our flight operations with the premise that all aircraft must meet or exceed the flight safety standards of our operating certificate and our own internal quality requirements.
Our people, facilities, and equipment give us the resources to implement our “can do” attitude: we can and do provide you with safe, high-quality air service. Whether you need to get supplies to a remote facility, fly into Ketchikan for a doctor’s appointment, or want to take your visiting guests on an air tour, Promech Air can meet your needs. |
