Discover Misty Fjords National Monument in Alaska’s Inside Passage, the nation’s second largest wilderness region and accessible only by floatplane or by boat. Whether you are visiting Ketchikan by cruise ship, vacationing in Ketchikan, touching base with friends and family nearby or just looking for a day trip out of Ketchikan while on business, this tour is a great way to see this unique corner of Alaska on an easy afternoon or morning excursion.
Misty Fjords National Monument spans more than two million acres. Towering granite cliffs, 1,000-foot waterfalls, lush and remote valleys and serene crystalline lakes make up this incredible landscape. This unspoiled wilderness is one of our country’s greatest national treasures and includes the best scenery that Alaska has to offer, abundant wildlife, amazing landscapes and intriguing geological creations. On Promech Air’s Misty Fjords Floatplane Tour, you will board one of our expertly-maintained and tour optimized floatplanes, taking off to soar above the city of Ketchikan and begin your flightseeing journey to the most enchanted region of the Inside Passage.
As your experienced pilot flies you into Misty Fjords, you will see spectacular Rudyerd Bay and New Eddystone Rock, a striking volcanic spire and remnant of early geological activity. Midway through your flight, you will land on a pristine lake or saltwater inlet, where you will step out onto the floats of your plane to absorb sweeping silence, peaceful serenity and the incredible wilderness scenery. While never guaranteed, be on the lookout for eagles, bears, mountain goats, whales and sea lions—these are just some of the fascinating animals and birds that inhabit the region.
Our specially equipped floatplanes, including both de Havilland Beavers and de Havilland single-turbine Otters, offer all the amenities to make your flightseeing trip a memorable experience. Along with occasional pilot commentary you will enjoy digital CD audio descriptions of the wilderness features you are witnessing and specially chosen accompanying music to enhance your experience. Everyone is guaranteed a window seat for the best possible viewing experience, and a professionally designed and printed souvenir route guide booklet will help you identify landmarks and scenic highlights and will also serve as a memento of your fascinating Alaska floatplane trip.
A once in a lifetime trip! Magnificence. See it!
