Misty Fjords Wilderness Cruise & Flight

Duration: 3.75 hours (approx.)
2.5 hour cruise and 30 minute flight that can operate either boat first or flight first.
Restrictions: No wheelchair accessibility

A stunning tour from downtown Ketchikan into Misty Fjords National Monument, this combination excursion incorporates a cruise on a comfortable, state-of-the-art high-speed catamaran and a floatplane flight in a bush plane. An unbeatable Alaska outdoors adventure!

Cruise the Inside Passage along the Tongass Narrows and the Behm Canal until you spot the towering volcanic spire known as New Eddystone Rock, a rock formation that calls to mind the dramatic geologic forces that shaped this area six million years ago. This landmark also marks the entrance to Rudyerd Bay and Misty Fjords! Surrounded by cliffs towering thousands of feet and waterfalls cascading into emerald waters, this is one of Alaska’s most majestic National Parks. You’ll visit many points of interest, such as an active eagle’s nest, a mysterious Alaska Native pictograph, Punchbowl Cove with its columnar basalt formations and the colorful Mossy Wall bird rookery.

On the cruise portion of this tour, a knowledgeable naturalist guide will provide in-depth commentary on the geology and history of the area. Watch for bears, whales, orcas, mountain goats, seals and sea lions. While never guaranteed, all and more populate the region abundantly. View all this from the comfort of the enclosed cabin of your catamaran or venture out onto the open deck for some fresh air while taking in the peacefulness of the Fjords. Do not forget to grab your camera as photo opportunities abound! Located in one of the tributaries of Rudyerd Bay is a floating dock from which you’ll transfer to/from the floatplane.

From the air, you can truly appreciate the magnitude and majesty of Rudyerd Bay, the crown jewel of this two million acre National Monument. Soar over pristine wilderness and enjoy the unspoiled forest, lakes and muskeg bogs of the Inside Passage landscape. You will also witness a wide panoramic view of the city of Ketchikan during your flight, which is operated in tour optimized floatplanes with large windows, personal headsets that play accompanying music along the way and, of course, our friendly and knowledgeable pilots.

Snacks (trail mix and muffins) and complimentary hot and cold drinks provided.
