Misty Fjords Flightseeing Tour

Tour duration: 2 hours
Approximate flight time: 75 minutes, including a water landing
Dates of operation: May 1 through September 30

Discover Misty Fjords National Monument, the nation’s second largest wilderness region, spans more than two million acres of sheer granite cliffs, 1,000-foot waterfalls, beautiful valleys, and serene crystalline lakes. Misty Fjords is one of our country’s greatest national treasures, and visitors can access it only by boat or floatplane. On the Misty Fjords tour, you will board one of our floatplanes, soar along the Ketchikan waterfront, and begin your journey to this enchanted monument.

As your expert pilot flies into spectacular Rudyerd Bay, you will see New Eddystone Rock, a striking volcanic spire and remnant of early geological activity. Midway through the flight, your pilot will land in a pristine lake or saltwater inlet, where you step out of the plane onto the floats, to absorb the incredible scenery, serenity, and sweeping silence. Eagles, bears, mountain goats, whales, and sea lions are some of the wildlife you may observe on your trip.

Our specially equipped floatplanes offer all the amenities to make you trip a memorable experience, including digital CD audio systems and individual passenger headsets to listen to the narration and complementing music. All passengers are guaranteed window seats for the best sightseeing, and a souvenir guidebook will help you identify landmarks and scenic highlights, and also will serve as a memento of your trip.
